Basketball Recap: Kade Taylor and JJ Gray Secure Win for Carolina Forest

It's playoff time, and Carolina Forest had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the Fort Dorchester Patriots with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 64-47. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 55-53 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2020.

Leading Carolina Forest to victory were JJ Gray and Kade Taylor. Gray shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards, while Taylor went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in shooting accuracy (78%). Another player making a difference was Jaiden Knowlin, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Carolina Forest's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Fort Dorchester, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-17.

Looking ahead, Carolina Forest is taking a road trip to square off against Ridge View at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridge View knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Carolina Forest likes a good challenge. Fort Dorchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
