Softball Recap: Upper Darby Takes a Loss

If Upper Darby was feeling good fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Lower Merion on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Royals lost 14-3 to the Conestoga Pioneers on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost five in a row.

Sarah Gentile put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Gentile wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaylie Hasson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Upper Darby's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14-1. As for Conestoga, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Upper Darby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Conestoga, they will face off against Strath Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
