Football Recap: St. Petersburg Comes Up Short

St. Petersburg entered their match against Osceola on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The St. Petersburg Green Devils took a 14-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Osceola Warriors. The game marked the Green Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Osceola found their leader in sophomore Daniella Buttacavoli, who threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards. That's the most passing yards Buttacavoli has posted over her last 12 matches.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Petersburg and nudges their season record down to 6-3. As for Osceola, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:30 p.m. on March 25th. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Pinellas Park 10.6, St. Petersburg 12.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Osceola will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on March 25th. Osceola's defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so Lakewood's offense will have their work cut out for them.
