Basketball Recap: Creekview Drops Season-High Score on Riverwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Creekview). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Riverwood Raiders on Friday, sneaking past 88-85. The win was all the more spectacular given the Grizzlies' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Raiders are ranked 93rd).

Despite the loss, Riverwood still got an impressive performance from Jr Leonard, who went 19 for 35 on his way to 53 points. That was a full 62.4% of Riverwood's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Nobles, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Creekview and bumps their season record up to 9-13. As for Riverwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creekview will face off against Sequoyah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sequoyah will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Creekview surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverwood, they will take on River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully River Ridge likes a good challenge.
