Football Recap: Volunteer Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Volunteer gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Daniel Boone Trailblazers, posting a 30-0 win. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 37-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Volunteer found their leader in sophomore Bryson Christian, who rushed for 205 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries. Christian's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Volunteer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Volunteer's defense and their three sacks. Connor Begley was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Christian Wilson was another major factor on D, making seven total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Coming up, Volunteer will head out to take on Claiborne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Daniel Boone, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on South Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
