Softball Game Preview: Anthem Prep Eagles vs. Salome Frogs

The Anthem Prep Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Salome Frogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Anthem Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

Anthem Prep's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Desert Heights Prep as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Yote: they've now won six in a row.

Bailey McCabe and Abigail Purvis made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, McCabe struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Purvis struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, McCabe went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Purvis went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anthem Prep got a massive performance out of Molly McCabe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs McCabe has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhyan Cantelme, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Anthem Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Heights Prep only posted an OBP of .294.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Salome was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 21-1 to Bagdad.

Salome's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Anthem Prep, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Anthem Prep couldn't quite finish off Salome in their previous meeting back in March and fell 10-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
