Basketball Game Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Coventry Comets

Cloverleaf is a perfect 10-0 against Coventry since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Colts will square off against the Comets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Coventry will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Cloverleaf extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Colts really took it to Springfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-22 win. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Colts this season.

Cloverleaf got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Makinsey Bayer out in front who went 8-for-10 en route to 16 points and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Bayer now owns an excellent 46.3% field goal percentage. Evie Barth was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Cloverleaf was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Coventry not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since January 6th (when they won 50-7). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East 62-20. The Comets pushed the score to 43-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons had little chance of recovering from.

Cloverleaf better keep an eye on Kayla Munn. She was instrumental in Coventry's win, shooting 60% from beyond the arc to rack up 43 points and eight boards. Munn is on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nemat Dabbas, who posted seven points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Cloverleaf's record is now 4-0. As for Coventry, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Cloverleaf's way against Coventry in their previous meeting back in February, as Cloverleaf made off with a 53-30 victory. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
