Football Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short

Plainview extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-6. They were beaten by the Memorial Mavericks 49-22. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Mayberry, who threw for 379 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. Jordan Porter was Mayberry's top target, picking up 155 receiving yards and one touchdown.

As for Memorial, their record is now 6-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 27 points or more this season.

Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Powell out in front who rushed for 147 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Powell is now averaging an impressive 101.5 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Gage Wuthrich, who rushed for 141 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.

Coming up, Plainview will face off against Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Plainview will be up against Wylie's rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.44 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Memorial, they will square off against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
