Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Currituck County

Currituck County came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pasquotank County Panthers with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Julia Twine was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Twine was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Cervantes, who fired off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Kenli Harris also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Currituck County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Currituck County's record is now 12-7. As for Pasquotank County, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Currituck County will head out to square off against First Flight at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Nighthawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests. As for Pasquotank County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-0 win against Northeastern on the 27th.
