Soccer Game Preview: Christiansburg vs. Blacksburg

Christiansburg is 0-10 against Blacksburg since May of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Demons will square off against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Christiansburg had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Pulaski County on Tuesday. The Blue Demons put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 5-1 victory. Given Christiansburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Pulaski County are ranked 219th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Blacksburg kept a clean sheet against Hidden Valley on Tuesday. They blew past the Titans 5-0. The win continues a trend for Blacksburg in their matchups with Hidden Valley: they've now won four in a row.

Christiansburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Blacksburg, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Christiansburg came up short against Blacksburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Blue Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
