Baseball Recap: P.K. Yonge Takes a Loss

After flying high against Eastside last Thursday, P.K. Yonge came back down to earth. The Blue Wave came up short against the Dixie County Bears on Friday, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-11 last Thursday.

Darius Medley and Micah Gratto stepped up to the plate in a big way. Medley scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Gratto scored a run while going 2-for-2. Medley has become a key player for P.K. Yonge: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

P.K. Yonge's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Dixie County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season.

P.K. Yonge will head out on the road to challenge Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.77 runs per game on average), something the Blue Wave will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dixie County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against St. John Paul II at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
