Basketball Game Preview: Van Horn Eagles vs. Wink Wildcats

Van Horn is 1-9 against Wink since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Van Horn Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Wink Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Van Horn will be strutting in after a win while Wink will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Van Horn beat Iraan 36-24. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Wink's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 63-48 bruising from Lubbock Christian. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Eagles are ranked 158th).

Van Horn has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Wink, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

Van Horn lost to Wink on the road by a decisive 33-17 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Van Horn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
