The McBain Ramblers will head out to face off against the Houghton Lake Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. McBain has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cadillac hit McBain with a five-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ramblers lost 14-5 to the Vikings. The Ramblers have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Aubrie Kamphouse made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisleigh Magnan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Lake City hit Houghton Lake with a six-run third inning last Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bobcats came up short against the Trojans, falling 10-4.
Savannah Luu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Megan Houserman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Natalie Yost also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
McBain now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Houghton Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Houghton Lake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McBain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Houghton Lake, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain McBain's hitters?
McBain couldn't quite get it done against Houghton Lake in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 18-13. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
