Softball Game Preview: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Buckingham Knights

Stuarts Draft hasn't had much luck against Buckingham recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Stuarts Draft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Stuarts Draft fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Fort Defiance on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-3.

Addyson Dameron put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Maddy Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Buckingham was able to grind out a solid victory over Nottoway on Thursday, taking the game 7-2. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Stuarts Draft's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Buckingham, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
