Football Recap: Coventry Christian Comes Up Short

Coventry Christian is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Maryland School for the Deaf. Coventry Christian took a blow against Maryland School for the Deaf, falling 44-16. The game marked Coventry Christian's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Loss or not, Coventry Christian got some senior leadership from Dom Wittman and Luke Hunter. Wittman gained 89 total yards and a touchdown, while Hunter rushed for 51 yards on only six carries. Hunter also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass.

Ryker Pedersen was his usual excellent self, rushing for 68 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 116 yards and one TD on only ten passes for Maryland School for the Deaf.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coventry Christian fell to 5-1. As for Maryland School for the Deaf, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Coventry Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chincoteague at 11:00 a.m. on the 25th. As for Maryland School for the Deaf, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Maryland Christian C at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
