Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Sleepy Eye's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Sleepy Eye owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Redwood Valley Cardinals by a score of 5-0. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Kayden Klein, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Redwood Valley off the board. Klein has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cody Schultz was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gavin Strong, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Sleepy Eye has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Redwood Valley, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Sleepy Eye will square off against Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. Redwood Valley has already played their next game (against Pipestone), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
