Basketball Recap: Calvin Christian Comes Up Short

Calvin Christian managed to keep up with Fallbrook until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Crusaders lost 76-53 to the Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crusaders of the 78-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Calvin Christian lost, don't look at Sawyer Goggin. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-18 en route to 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Lapka, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Fallbrook had a senior duo take command as Petey Pizzo dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards and Elliott Watkins posted 28 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Haiden Rabbetts, who put up six points.

Calvin Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fallbrook, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Calvin Christian and Fallbrook will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Crusaders see the court they'll take on Bonsall at 5:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Fallbrook, their break will end when they face St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 1.
