Red Bluff hadn't done well against Chico recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 31-19. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Ashden Wehbey threw for 179 yards and one touchdown. Bryce Owens was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Nikolas Mejia rushed for 62 yards.

Chico's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamar Riley, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 66 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Detmer, who threw for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.

Red Bluff's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Chico, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 8-2.

Red Bluff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chico, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
