Basketball Recap: E.E. Smith Golden Bulls vs. Harnett Central Trojans
There's no place like home for the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Harnett Central by a score of 65-53 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as E.E. Smith also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Derek Green was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Williams, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Harnett Central saw an underclassman step up: Kemaury Haywood scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kyrese Williams, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Harnett Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as E.E. Smith racked up 12 assists.
E.E. Smith's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Harnett Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
E.E. Smith will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harnett Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Terry Sanford's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
