Softball Recap: Oxnard Wins Going Away Against Buena

Oxnard won the last time they faced Buena and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Bulldogs. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Destinee Herrera was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Raelene Rangel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Oxnard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive games.

Oxnard is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Buena, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Oxnard will host San Marcos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Buena, they will challenge Rio Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
