Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Simi Valley

Simi Valley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Royal Highlanders. This was a revenge game for the Pioneers: when they faced off against the Highlanders back in March, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

Kyle Casey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryan Whitson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Nicklaus, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Simi Valley's record now sits at 14-9. As for Royal, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.

Simi Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Highlanders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
