Malad had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Firth Cougars 14-4 on Thursday. Considering the Dragons have won 22 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Riglee Peterson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Malad let Bostyn Combs and Hadlee Summers run wild. Combs went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Summers went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Combs has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Shulz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Malad hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matchups.

Malad's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.6 runs. As for Firth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Malad didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 loss against North Fremont on the 16th. As for Firth, they have also already played their next matchup, a 19-2 defeat against Parma on the 16th.
