Softball Recap: Texas Wins Going Away Against Marshall

Texas barely beat Marshall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Mavericks on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Laikyn Stevens was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Preslie Clopp was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Texas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Marshall, they dropped their record down to 9-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Texas will square off against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Fightin' Indians at the right time seeing as the Fightin' Indians are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Marshall, they will face off against Mt. Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
