Recap: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Crescent City Raiders

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas entered their tilt with the Crescent City Raiders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. New Smyrna Beach walked away with a 48-39 victory over Crescent City on Thursday. Given New Smyrna Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Crescent City is ranked 664th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lukas Parschauer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games he's played. Josh Reik was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five assists and two steals.

New Smyrna Beach is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Crescent City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

New Smyrna Beach and DeLand will face off at 10:00 a.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully DeLand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. Crescent City on the road again on Saturday and play against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Union County is on a three-game streak of home losses, Crescent City a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
