League recap: McCarthy breaks off league-leading run for Garden County

D2 District 9 (8 Man) recap September 4, 2013

Garden County's Layne McCarthy recorded the longest rushing play in D2 District 9 (8 Man) this season in his game against Leyton last week. McCarthy scampered for 55 yards on the play and finished with 89 on the day as his team lost to the Warriors.

Creek Valley fell to Potter-Dix 76-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Sandhills/Thedford's dynamic duo of Jacey Nutter and Justin Lee proved tough for Stuart to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nutter threw for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns and Lee had 55 yards receiving. Caden Jameson helped Sandhills/Thedford's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 53 yards.

The Knights' dynamic duo of Nutter and Lee proved to be unstoppable against the Broncos, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Lee was the best receiver in the league this week as Sandhills/Thedford lost to Stuart.

Nutter put up the best numbers in passing as Josh Deines' team lost to Lance Howitt's team.

McCarthy was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Elliot Epp added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

The Knights' Nutter and Lee have formed a dream team this season, leading D2 District 9 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Nutter has thrown for 121 yards this season, while Lee, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 4 catches for 55 yards. Garden County's McCarthy leads the league in rushing yards with 89.
