Softball Recap: Moline Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Moline nor Rock Island made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Maroons fell 4-0 to the Rocks. The Maroons haven't had much luck with the Rocks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lilyanna Reyna was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits.

Moline's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Rock Island, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moline will host Normal Community at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ironmen have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Rock Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edwardsville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rocks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
