Basketball Recap: Buena Takes a Loss

Buena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 75-28 loss at the hands of the Nogales Apaches. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Apaches are ranked 49th).

Despite the defeat, Buena saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taegan Allred went 5-for-6 en route to 11 points and seven boards. Those 11 points gave Allred a new career-high.

Buena's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Nogales, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Buena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-25 win against Desert View on the 11th. As for Nogales, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-49 defeat against Flowing Wells on the 11th.
