Lewis Cass is 2-8 against Oak Hill since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kings will face off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Lewis Cass didn't have quite enough to beat Maconaquah and fell 3-2. The Kings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lewis Cass got a good showing from Alisha Toops, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Lewis Cass saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Logan, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Oak Hill never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Northfield as they made off with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Pathie Speicher and Karsyn Wiley made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Speicher didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Wiley tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Speicher has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At bat, Speicher went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Wiley went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ry-Ry Myers and Lex Myers did most of the damage at the plate: Ry-Ry went 4-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases, while Lex went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Ry-Ry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolee Hawkins, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
Oak Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only posted a batting average of .286.
Oak Hill pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis Cass, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lewis Cass hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Oak Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lewis Cass came up short against Oak Hill in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-1. Can the Kings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
