Baseball Recap: Chicago Christian Has No Trouble Against St. Edward

Chicago Christian won the last time they faced St. Edward and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights put the hurt on the Green Wave with a sharp 19-4 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Chicago Christian got a massive performance out of Christian Flutman, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Flutman has become a key player for the Knights: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Josh Sedakis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chicago Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Edward only managed five hits.

Chicago Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Edward, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Christian will host Crossroads Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Edward, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m.
