Football Game Preview: Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles vs. South Florence Bruins

The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles will challenge the South Florence Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a ten-game winning streak alive.

Gray Collegiate Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 win over Hilton Head Island.

Gray Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevon Williamson led the charge by rushing for 231 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Williamson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Xavier Wright was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and onetouchdown.

Meanwhile, South Florence faced North Augusta in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bruins really took it to the Yellow Jackets for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-14 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won 11 contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

South Florence's win came from a few key players Gray Collegiate Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cameron James, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 68 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Messiah Jackson, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD.

South Florence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Amare Reaves and Warnell Prew. South Florence received some extra help from Reaves, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

South Florence's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
