Basketball Game Preview: Bowie Bears vs. Da Vinci Dragons

The Bowie Bears will challenge the Da Vinci Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bowie is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost 72-51 to Americas on Tuesday. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Trail Blazers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Bowie had strong showings from Derek Hernandez, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 21 points, and Johan Comacho, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Hernandez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jakob Montanez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Da Vinci came up short against Las Cruces on Monday, falling 90-67. The Dragons were down 70-49 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Da Vinci now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bowie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Bowie strolled past Da Vinci in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 51-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
