San Gorgonio beats Fontana for their fourth straight win

Recap: San Gorgonio Spartans vs. Fontana Steelers

The San Gorgonio Spartans had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They secured a 27-21 W over Fontana. San Gorgonio had a rough season last year, but theylook ready to turn that poor record around this year.

Dillon Carolina was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Jaevin Sawyer was in the mix as well, providing San Gorgonio with two touchdowns.

San Gorgonio's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Anthony Rucker and Albert Lara who racked up four sacks between them.

Several Steelers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rashawn Williams, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown. Ruben Camacho was another key contributor, rushing for 15 yards and two touchdowns.

San Gorgonio's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Notre Dame and 0-9 Ontario (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 13.9% over those games). As for Fontana, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

San Gorgonio will head out on the road to face off against Bloomington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bloomington is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Fontana, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Arroyo Valley at 7:00 p.m. Arroyo Valley and Fontana are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
