Softball Recap: Jserra Catholic Falls Short of Los Alamitos in the Playoffs

JSerra Catholic and Los Alamitos squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but JSerra Catholic had to settle for second. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The shutout was out of character for the Lions seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Liliana Escobar spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, JSerra Catholic saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Stephens, who went 2-for-5 with one double.

The loss snapped JSerra Catholic's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-14 record. As for Los Alamitos, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-12.

As of now, neither JSerra Catholic nor the Griffins have any future games scheduled.
