Baseball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Willows

Hamilton barely beat Willows the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hamilton Braves were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Willows Honkers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Braves have posted against the Honkers since May 3, 2016.

Dylan Joksch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Boles, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Daniel Leal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Willows' loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Hamilton will square off against Plumas Charter at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. As for Willows, they will be playing at home against Orland at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
