Softball Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. Boca Raton Bobcats
The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Boca Raton Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Cardinal Newman can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Wednesday. They fell just short of Palm Beach Central by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Crusaders have suffered since March 1, 2024.
Madelyn Horner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Khanna, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Boca Raton challenged Somerset Academy - Canyons on Tuesday. Boca Raton was the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Somerset Academy - Canyons.
Emily Falkowitz was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Falkowitz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Kate Ivanik was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Raegan Lisco, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double.
