Basketball Recap: Blackville-Hilda Takes a Loss

Blackville-Hilda lost against Ridge Spring-Monetta back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks took a 41-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans.

Despite the loss, Blackville-Hilda still got an impressive performance from Tahlia Kinard, who posted ten points.

Ridge Spring-Monetta found their leader in freshman Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Young is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylah Leaphart, who put up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Blackville-Hilda's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North the next time they take the court. Ridge Spring-Monetta will host North at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Blackville-Hilda will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
