Baseball Game Preview: Dwight Trojans vs. Fieldcrest Knights

The Dwight Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Fieldcrest Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Dwight beat Momence 7-2. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Momence Athletics: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Owen Dunlap, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Fieldcrest gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn 6-5.

Dwight's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Fieldcrest, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Dwight took their win against Fieldcrest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dwight since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
