Softball Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Valley Christian Warriors        
        
		
            The Burlingame Panthers will head out on the road to  square off against  the Valley Christian Warriors  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Burlingame will roll into the  contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any  runs  on Thursday, then bounced right back against Mercy  on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Bears 11-5. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
The team  relied heavily on  Madeline Koo, who  scored three  runs while going 4-for-4.  Giana Johnson also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
 Koo wasn't the only one making solid contact: Burlingame  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 18  hits. That's the most  hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats  a   5-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
  Charlotte Coney was  incredible,  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances with one  home run and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Madelyn Hu, who  went 1-for-2 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Valley Christian's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 14-3. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Burlingame, their record now sits at 3-5.
 Burlingame might still be hurting after the  12-2 defeat they got from Valley Christian  when the teams last played  back in May of 2019. Can the Panthers avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
