Basketball Recap: Heartland Lutheran Takes a Loss

If Heartland Lutheran was feeling good fresh off their 64-36 takedown of Dorchester last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets had to suffer through a 70-37 loss at the hands of the Riverside Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Hornets of the 71-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Heartland Lutheran lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Luke Olson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Olson has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times he's played. Colton Zehendner also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Heartland Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Riverside, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Heartland Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-18 defeat against Silver Lake on the 11th. As for Riverside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-38 victory against Shelby-Rising City on the 10th.
