Baseball Recap: Latta Wins Going Away Against Carvers Bay

Latta won the last time they faced Carvers Bay and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings blew past the Bears 20-1. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Preston Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Minshew, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Latta: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 3-7 otherwise. Dawson Covington also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Latta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carvers Bay only posted an OBP of .273.

Latta now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Carvers Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Latta will welcome Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carvers Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Sea Floyds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
