Basketball Recap: Walnut Ridge Comes Up Short

Walnut Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by the Bishop Hartley Hawks and fell 72-31. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while the Hawks are ranked 93rd).

Several Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nyah Hubbard, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 61.3% of Walnut Ridge's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Holt, who earned four points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Walnut Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Walnut Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Bishop Hartley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

As of now, neither Walnut Ridge nor Bishop Hartley have any future games scheduled.
