Softball Recap: Jamestown Gets the Win

Jamestown proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by nine) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Hickory Hornets 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Muskies have posted since April 17, 2024.

Not much got past Miranda Biles, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Hickory off the board. Biles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Jamestown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Jamestown has already played their next match (against Mercyhurst Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hickory, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Slippery Rock on the 1st.
