Baseball Game Preview: Belpre Golden Eagles vs. Trimble Tomcats

The Belpre Golden Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Trimble Tomcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Belpre made easy work of Federal Hocking and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

AJ Copen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Copen was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Copen wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Maze, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Maze has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Trimble sidestepped Crooksville for a 7-5 win. The Tomcats haven't had any issues with the Ceramics recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The win made it two in a row for Belpre and bumps their season record up to 4-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Trimble, their record is now 5-6.

Belpre was able to grind out a solid win over Trimble in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
