Basketball Recap: Ozanam Takes a Loss

Ozanam lost a heartbreaker to Frontier School of Excellence when they met back in February of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. Ozanam were outmatched by Frontier School of Excellence and fell 69-41. Ozanam has struggled against Frontier School of Excellence recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Ozanam's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A.W. Poke, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jayvion Bates also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Ozanam smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Frontier School of Excellence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakeem Davis, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and ten steals. Davis is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Merwis Ramirez Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Ozanam's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Frontier School of Excellence, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Ozanam wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 91-43 defeat against Independence Home School on the 6th. As for Frontier School of Excellence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-26 victory against Academie Lafayette on the 4th.
