Softball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

Lamar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 18-8 to the Sam Houston Texans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2017, but that streak is no more.

Nathalie Dermas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariska Soliz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Sam Houston, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-5.

Coming up, Lamar will square off against Arlington at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Sam Houston, they will welcome Grand Prairie at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
