Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Maryvale Prep's Winning Streak

If Maryvale Prep was riding high fresh off their 38-18 takedown of Antelope last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maryvale Prep Matador fell 30-18 to the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Matador came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 267th).

Bourgade Catholic found their leader in sophomore Nizhoni Rainbolt, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Rainbolt a new career-high in steals (eight). Kyra Williams was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.
