Softball Recap: Patterson Mill's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Patterson Mill came tearing into Wednesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Century Knights as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for Patterson Mill, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Patterson Mill got a great performance from Amanda Redmiles as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). Redmiles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Audrey March, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ellie Malenfant also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Patterson Mill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Patterson Mill's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Century, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Patterson Mill will be playing in front of their home fans against Bohemia Manor at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Century has already played their next game (against Manchester Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
