Recap: Academy of the New Church Lions vs. George School Cougars
Even though the George School Cougars scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, the Academy of the New Church Lions still came out on top. Academy of the New Church took down the Cougars 71-55. Given Academy of the New Church's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Cougars are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Academy of the New Church to victory were Ryan Warren and Bahsil Laster. Warren dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, while Laster scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Warren has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dior Carter, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Academy of the New Church has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for George School, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the New Church will take on the at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for George School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
