Basketball Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. Keys Gate Knights

The Florida Christian Patriots will take on the Keys Gate Knights in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Florida Christian came up short against True North Classical Academy on Thursday, falling 45-22. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Keys Gate). They blew past Coral Shores 70-47 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Keys Gate found their leader in freshman Essence Deleon, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deleon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Genesis Aguilar, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Keys Gate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Keys Gate's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Florida Christian, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Florida Christian against Keys Gate in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, as the squad secured a 63-29 win. Will Florida Christian repeat their success, or does Keys Gate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
