            Basketball Preview: Compass Academy vs. Denver City Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            Compass Academy are taking a road trip to  square off against the Denver City Mustangs  at 6:15  p.m.  on Friday. Compass Academy has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 25.
Compass Academy is headed into the  match out to prove that what happened against Brownfield  two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Compass Academy might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Brownfield an easy  43-23 win. Compass Academy was down  33-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

 Despite the  loss, Compass Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Peyton Stewart  almost  dropped  a double-double on nine  points and 11  boards. Stewart is  crushing it when it comes to  boards: she's   pulled down at least eight every time she's  taken the court this season.  Sareyah Hinojoz was another key player,  putting up six  points and five  rebounds.
 Meanwhile, Denver City came up short against Wink on Tuesday and fell  39-31. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Denver City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Compass Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
